Making small space more comfortable

The first desire when you have small flat is to use every single space in the best possible way. But we have also to think of the impression this has on our perceptions - like in the example below. See how much more spacious the kitchen looks when you have supplied a lot of storage only in the lower cabinets. In this way we have the impression of a much  more spacious kitchen. And when we add some art with perspective view then we have the feeling of additional depth. I think its worth to consider this way of designing a small space.

Making use of the balcony, but in a beautifully designed way - like in the bedroom below. With demolishing the wall to the balcony the owners have succeeded to add a beautiful bedroom to their apartment:
